Rev. Rick

Hoyt-Mcdaniels

Unitarian Universalist Minister

I earned my Masters of Divinity from the Claremont School of Theology in May, 1998 and was fellowshipped and ordained to the Unitarian Universalist ministry later that year.  I served congregations in La Crescenta and Santa Clarita and, most recently, the First Unitarian Church of Los Angeles.

I currently serve as President of the Unitarian Universalist Ministers Association Pacific Southwest Chapter, and have served as a UUMA “Coach” to other ministers.  I am recognized for my social justice commitment, working with CLUE-LA (Clergy and Laity United for Economic Justice) and having served as a Board member of the UUJM-CA (Unitarian Universalist Justice Ministry).  I am a passionate mentor to future ministers having supervised the Field Education or Internships of Emrys Staton, Tera Klein, Sarah Caine and John Bloom-Ramirez, as well as helping found and lead our District “In Care” program and consulting with the UUMA to develop the nationwide Ministerial Formation Network.
